Legal Action on Animal Abuse

Over the years as animal abuse has grown, there has been changes to the laws and punishments of animal abuse. Each state has its own laws pertaining animal abuse. Here in New York tortures to an animal, and no water or food is a misdemeanor punishable with a $1,000 fine and up to 1 year in jail. Any unjustifiable purpose is known as aggravated cruelty,   and is punishable with a $5,000 fine and up to 5 years in jail. There is even a special police department that focuses specifically on animal abuse. Its called the ASPCA humane enforcement.
